One of the secrets, perhaps the core secret, behind Barbaresco’s greatness, is Nebbiolo.

It is a grape variety that tends to ripen later in the season, gives its best if grown in hills exposed to sunlight, at 150 to 400 meters above sea level, in soils primarily composed of calcareous marl: all these conditions are found in the Barbaresco area and allow this noble grape variety to achieve the highest aromatic complexity and longevity in Barbaresco wine.
